Terms of Service

Last updated: [to be added]

These terms are an agreement between you and Tsang Kwan Tao ("we", "us"), a sole trader based in England, covering your use of BaldMaths. By creating an account you agree to them.

Draft — not yet in force

This document still contains unfilled placeholders and has not been reviewed by a solicitor. It must not be relied on, and the site must not accept payments, until it is finalised.

1. Who may use BaldMaths

BaldMaths is built for secondary-school maths students, their teachers and their parents. You may create an account if you are 13 or over. If you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to use the service, and they are responsible for your use of it.

We do not knowingly provide accounts to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us at kwantao2004@gmail.com and we will delete it.

2. Who may buy a subscription

This is the part to read before you enter card details. To buy any paid plan you must be 18 or over, or have the express permission of a parent or guardian who accepts responsibility for the payment. You confirm this at checkout, and we record that confirmation.

You must also be entitled to use the payment method you provide. If a payment is made by someone under 18 without permission, contact us and we will refund it.

The Organisation plan may only be purchased by a teacher or organisation account, on behalf of a school, college or tutoring centre, by someone authorised to enter contracts for that organisation.

3. Your account

Keep your login details to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Accounts are personal — do not share one between several people (an organisation licence covers multiple people properly).

4. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

  • Paid plans renew automatically each month or each year until cancelled. Prices are shown on the pricing page. We are not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added — the price you see is the price you pay.
  • You can cancel at any time from Settings → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Switching between monthly and yearly billing is prorated — you are credited for time you have paid for but not used.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
  • We may change prices, but not for a period you have already paid for. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a change affects your renewal.

Your right to cancel: if you are a consumer in the UK or EU you have 14 days to change your mind about an online purchase. At checkout you can ask us to start your subscription immediately; if you do, you acknowledge that you lose that 14-day right once we have begun supplying the service, and we confirm this to you by email. If you do not ask for immediate access, the full 14 days apply.

Either way, if a plan is not right for you, email us within 14 days and we will refund it. That goodwill offer is in addition to your statutory rights, not instead of them.

5. Organisation licences

An organisation licence covers a set number of seats. The organisation administrator is responsible for who occupies those seats and for removing people who leave. Removing a member revokes their access to organisation content across the whole organisation. If a subscription ends, organisation access ends with it.

6. What you may and may not do

You may use BaldMaths for learning and teaching. You may not:

  • copy, scrape, resell or redistribute our questions, notes, lessons or generated papers outside your own class or household;
  • upload content you do not have the right to upload, including exam material you are not licensed to copy;
  • post anything to Community notes or question banks that is unlawful, abusive, or inappropriate for an audience that includes children;
  • attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service, or use it to train another AI model;
  • use another person's account or impersonate anyone.

We can suspend or remove accounts and content that breach these rules. Where a suspension is not urgent we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

7. Content you create

Your notes, questions and uploads remain yours. By publishing something to the Community section you grant other users permission to view it, and to copy it into their own collection ("fork"), and you grant us a licence to host and display it for that purpose. Making an item private again stops it appearing in Community, but copies other users already made remain theirs.

You can report content from the item itself. Reports go to a moderation queue and we remove anything that breaches these terms.

8. AI features

BaldMaths uses third-party AI models to generate similar questions, answer questions in the assistant, and extract questions from documents you upload. AI output can be wrong. Generated questions, solutions and explanations are a study aid, not a verified source, and you should check anything important against your textbook, your specification or your teacher.

We do not guarantee AI availability. Fair-use limits apply so one account cannot exhaust the service for everyone. Free accounts use AI credits: one credit buys one reply from the assistant, a new account starts with 50, and 10 more are added on each day you use it, up to a balance of 50. You can also earn 50 credits by inviting someone, paid to both of you once they have signed up and answered a practice question, for up to 20 people. Credits are not money — they cannot be bought, refunded or transferred, and they end with the account. We may withdraw credits obtained by creating accounts you control in order to claim invitation rewards. Paid plans get a daily allowance instead — 100 a day on Pro Student, 150 on Teacher, 50 on Parent and 200 on Organisation. These are generous for normal study and we will tell you if we change them.

What we send to AI providers, and where they are based, is set out in the Privacy Policy. Note in particular that the assistant sends your messages outside the UK.

9. Predicted grades

Predicted grades, topic mastery scores and streaks are estimates calculated from your practice history on BaldMaths. They are not official predictions, they are not endorsed by any exam board, and they should not be used for school reporting, university applications or any formal purpose.

10. Exam boards

BaldMaths is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by AQA, Edexcel/Pearson, OCR, the HKEAA, or any other awarding body. Where we refer to a specification it is to help you find relevant material.

11. Availability

We aim to keep BaldMaths available but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change or remove features. If we make a significant change that reduces what a paid plan offers, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your subscription.

12. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

Otherwise, we are not liable for exam results, lost profit, or indirect losses. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 or what you paid us in that period — so the cap is never nil, including on the free plan.

13. Ending this agreement

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaches these terms. On closure we delete or anonymise your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will email you at least 30 days beforehand, and you may cancel before it takes effect and get a pro-rata refund of the unused part of your subscription. We will not treat simply continuing to use BaldMaths as agreement to a change that reduces your rights.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory rules of the country where you live.
